Simmer Starters – August 1, 2015

I’m being short and sweet in my link descriptions today.  I have to make some yummy cheesecake bars, do laundry, supervise my kids most of the day, and shop for a bridesmaid dress today for a wedding I’ll be in this December (yay!).  Busy days!

Book Description Epic Fail (Indies Unlimited) – Tips for writing blurbs and avoiding common pitfalls.

The Ultimate Guide to Book Marketing (BookBub) – Great resource for you indie authors out there! 🙂

Why We Feel Better if We Care about Cecil the Lion (Catholic All Year) – Very insightful post about human nature and the thirst for morality in a culture that applauds evil.

Planned Parenthood: Our Wilberforce Moment (Josh Howerton) – Oh, I pray that America is no longer able to look away from the butchery of abortion!!

Image Bearers at Planned Parenthood (R.C. Sproul Jr.) – The people who work at Planned Parenthood and the parents who abort their babies bear God’s image too.

Sin is the Only Bad Word Left (Your Mom Has a Blog) – “Being hated isn’t the worst thing in the world. Believe me, I know. But, being buried by the sin that you refuse to acknowledge is a fate worse than death.”

A Call to Teenagers to be Free (John Piper) – Now that’s what I’m talking about!!  I loved this post because it portrays exactly why I write the genre I do (YA sci-fi and fantasy).

Lucent Sylph (RJ Conte) – Also, one of my very best friends released a new, FREE short story yesterday!!  Check it out!  Back cover description: Lucas Thissel has something he fears: an alien species of palm-sized glass fairies called Lucent Sylphs. They came through a portal from a metaphysical dimension, and they indenture themselves as slaves to human beings. Too much neglect or unkindness, and they will cloud over and disintegrate. Too much love and their hearts are overcome and burst. … And one has attached herself to him.”
