Some of you might have noticed how sporadic my postings are lately. I’ve missed several weekly posts and even missed Simmer Starters two weeks running!
The truth is, I’m strung out. I have so many commitments and responsibilities that my mind is boggled just thinking about it. Not to mention the four crazy adorable children I care for day in and day out, with potty training, homeschooling, health issues, cooking meals, breastfeeding the infant, and so many other things. I haven’t had room in my brain for blogging. 🙁
I’ve been massively reevaluating my priorities and how I spend my time, and I have determined that I need to do several things:
- Go to bed earlier so I can try to wake up before the kids in the morning
- Spend significantly less time on social media (Facebook in particular), checking once per day rather than throughout the day
- Cease blogging on a schedule of any kind, at least until the end of the year
I hate to do this, especially since I’ve gained a few new followers after my giveaway and I don’t want to be boring and LEAVE you guys!! I enjoy my blog, and I enjoy sharing interesting links with you on weekends.
But I think taking a break until the end of the year will be healthy for me and for my growing family. And who knows? Maybe with my time re-prioritized, I’ll be inspired to do NaNoWriMo! 😛
I will continue posting on my Facebook writer page daily or close to daily, and I can also be followed on Twitter. 🙂 I will probably blog a few times with musings I felt inspired to share, writing updates, or perhaps a monthly or bi-monthly Simmer Starters instead of weekly. And TWO winners from my giveaway asked for flash fiction as their prize, so those will be coming to the blog sometime in the next month. 🙂
As for my regular weekly blogging – I will see you in January, friends!
*dashes off to tend to crying baby* 😀
I hear you! Hope you get some rest. It’s a good time of the year to take a hiatus with the holidays coming on in all. I will be doing a bit too as I evaluate 2015 and prepare my vision board for 2016.
I agree, it’s such a busy time of year for everyone!
It is! For us, it slows down for the most part. Our families live out of state and out of the country, so….things look a little different around here during the holidays.
Don’t do Nano! 😛 You should totally have a break. <3
Ohhhh, don’t worry, I was thinking a modified NaNo, not the full 50,000 words in-it-to-win normal NaNo. 🙂 I’d just like to make some progress and maybe write daily instead of in random spurts. So my goal is probably going to be “write a little every day”…IF I do NaNo.
Whew! 🙂
If you need a break, take a break! You have to give yourself some margin, because without it, you’ll fall apart. Don’t worry about the Internet–it’ll still be here, being horrible, when you get back. Besides, think of all the outrage you won’t have!
Hahaha, thank you. 😀
Do it my dear! Your family is so very important and your ability to tend to them. We’ll all be here when you get back! 🙂 I’ve had to make changes to my writing over the years and while it’s hard, it’s always been the right thing to do!
Thank you, Abby! <3
